Neus: Zout en zoet rokerig, marine, zoute zeebries, medicinaal, noten, zoute karamel of zoute pinda's, rood fruit, was, citrus, zeer omarmende aromaveranderingen bij elke snuif. Smaak: Vettig, zoet, chocolade, bijenwas, lichte rook, maar nauwelijks waarneembaar, zout, zee, peper, gezouten noten, cacaopoeder, gebrande karamel, bosbessenjam, scherp hout.

Kleur: licht goud. Neus: tonen van rijp boomgaardfruit, wat rook, romige vanille, toffee appels, rode appels, gerst mout en een hintje turf. Smaak: een fraaie balans tussen fruitigheid en room, tonen van herfstfruit, lichte rook, turf en kruiden en specerijen.

An Oa is vernoemd naar de Mull of Oa in het zuidwesten van Islay, die de Kildaton kust (waar Ardbeg de distilleerderij is gelegen) wat bescherming biedt tegen het geweld van de de Atlantische Oceaan.
